Meet Sam Minkin

Managing pain through personalised, integrative and highly specialised methods on the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast's leading pain management specialist Sam Minkin from Recuperate Health Burleigh Heads at a sporting event where he provided sports medicine and athlete support.

Sam's passion for health began in 2012 as an exercise specialist, progressing into sports medicine where he worked with Australia’s elite athletes. He completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Musculoskeletal Therapy, gaining extensive clinical experience in treating various conditions. Extensive experience has led Sam to approach each issue holistically, ensuring thorough and effective treatment case-by-case.

Sam is also one of very few practitioners who uses non-invasive transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation, a modern medicine technique which sees him commonly treating depression, anxiety, neuroplasticity, inflammatory disorders, irregular heartbeats, memory, PTSD, reflux and much more. Sam is also 1 of very few experts in his field to be trained in Photobiomodulation (PBMt), an exciting field of modern medicine which can regenerates tissue. This laser can also be used on the brain to treat various mood and traumatic brain injuries. Laser has a profound effect of pain and recovery time and is also being utilised by the USA olympic teams.

A lot of the time when people present with issues and there is no direct mechanism of injury it can be brought back to the spine and its interaction on neurovascular and neuromuscular structures.

Sam has served as the head Myotherapist at the World Table Tennis Championship, treated Commonwealth Games swimmers, and worked with the Australian masters field hockey team. His experience highlights his expertise and commitment to providing top-tier care.

Additionally, he has represented his University at the national level in both 3x3 and 5x5 Basketball and is set to compete in Canberra early September.

Always on the forefront of innovative treatments, Sam is currently completing his Masters of Integrative Medicine at Southern Cross University, to become an Integrative Medicine Specialist. Additionally, he is completing a national and international fellowship, which will see him become certified by the American Board of Integrative Medicine and the Australasian Board of Integrative Medicine. His goal is to further his education, conduct cutting-edge research, and eventually obtain a PhD.

Recently he presented at the PRAXIS conference on how whiplash injury in sport affects the Vagus Nerve and is often overlooked. He presented on how to assess and treat these ongoing issues to better assist athletes post-injury.
